Half way through 2005 already.

Happy new financial year! Not that it means too much to me at the moment, but thought it was timely for a new post. I've been in hibernation for the past week since my shopping spree using my recently acquired recording equipment and program on the computer. I don't think I'll ever get sick of this, but I will try to leave my room occasionally!! I've been arranging my songs with a drum beat from the computer, then adding my own bass playing, guitar, percussion egg, some keyboard and even dabbling in some harmonies whilst singing. Every time I record something I learn a new twist to the program and get all excited. I'm easily excited by music really.

I did actually leave the house today for my first day of keyboard teacher training. I met all the other new teachers for the term and got a run down of the program expectations and all the other admin stuff. Most of the new teachers are more competent on the keyboard than me and have a lot more teaching experience, so it's been great to pick their brains and learn from them, as well as the program manager maestro. They are really supportive to the new teachers and it's great to be in an environment where it's ok to make mistakes as it's expected at first before we get used to teaching!!

I get nervous when I'm put on the spot sometimes and today we had to act as grade two students to get used to the format of the lessons. I was asked a pretty simple question about what a certain note on the stave was, probably the difficulty of a question like 1+1 = 2, but I answered "3" and everyone else thought I was acting as the grade 2. Little did they know I wasn't.

I ceased to be a Victorian cricket player late last week which is a pretty big change for me as that had been a big part of my life for seven years. It was a hard and long decision making process but in the end it was the right thing to do. I will miss it, but I also know my heart isn't in it as much as it used to be.

One last thing I have to mention is that I wrote my first letter to the editor last week and both the Herald Sun and the Age published it. Dad used to be a regular writer to the papers and it took him two years to get into the Age, and I got in first time. hehehe. Then again he wrote all these really intelligent letters, I just wrote about "Big Brother".

until next time
cheers,
Ingrid:)
