Distinct lack of Blogging action

That's right. I've been pretty slack on the blogging front recently. I will try not to make blogging a passing phase like so many other things I do, but we'll see how it goes!!

I guess the best way to explain the last few weeks is 'sleep deprived'. I'm sure all cricket fans can related to that at the moment with the back to back awesome test matches just played against England. I have a week to rejuvenate and then the fourth test will be on tele.

Aside from all the cricket watching things have been pretty productive. Work is going great. I learn something new about kids everyday and (at the moment) it seems that the teaching isn't a job, but just a good time playing music with kids.

It’s kind of a different path to which my uni degree in Behavioural Science should have lead to. This was highlighted recently when I ran into a friend from uni and part of the conversation was "so what are you up to now?", to which I replied "teaching music", to which he replied, "we'll that was a waste of money and three years wasn't it". Which I guess is true, but I try to convince myself that the degree does give me an insight into the inner workings of the kiddies brains, little do they know.

I could waffle on for pages about kids and the stuff they say. But I won’t:). The teacher label is stuck so strongly in little kids minds that it's amazing. They think I know everything, which is where my new found acting skills have to come into play to pretend that I do know everything.

I had to rearrange some lessons times for next week as I'm sitting a music theory exam during the time I normally teach. When I explained to them the reason why their lesson time changed some of the kids were like 'why do you have to sit exams, don't you know everything already?' I was chuffed, but little do they know how little I really know.

Another exciting thing is that Megan and I have our final demo cd all ready to go and send out to some pubs. We are trying to work out a new band name as well 'Sidekick' pretty much sux. We're tossing around a few but none have really grabbed us just yet.

Will keep the blog posted;)

cheers,

Ingrid:)

Busking in Banyule this Saturday!!

Megan and I will be in a busking competion this Saturday morning to celebrate the opening of the "Winter in Banyule arts festival" so come along and vote for us as the best busker in Banyule! It'll be a great time for all!!

The competition is voted by popular demand which is where YOU all come into play! The event is from 11am - 12.30pm in Were Street (Melways 21 C5) in Montmorency (5 minutes from wonderful Heidelberg!!)

Basically we play two sets of about 30 minutes each and during that time people can vote on who they consider to be the best busker. Which of course in popularity contests doesn’t mean the best (hence Australian Idol) just who gets the most votes. There will be other buskers around the place doing their thing (we have no idea what their thing is yet) but we hope that our cruisy acoustic music will win the crowds over. Or more to the point get peoples votes!!!

So please come along and spend a wonderful morning in Montmorency, or simply pop along, vote and enjoy the day elsewhere.

cheers,

Ingrid:)
