World Of iPod

I am addicted to my new ipod, wherever it is I am. Highly recommended.
Gotta love stocktake sale time of year. Quote of the day comes from Kathryn who wisely stated to me this afternoon when I was at the ATM concerned I wouldn't have any money in my account for dinner who said, "Don't count up how much you spent, just how much you have saved in the process." I did, and I was a much happier girl.

Me Singing for the Camera Posted by Hello

Local Footy

*Is it strong to stand up to verbal abuse and let is slide, or just plain weak to give it in the first place?*

Jake umpires in one of the local rough Tasmanian football Leagues and while I was on holiday I watched one of his games. The above thought occupied my mind the whole time as the players, partners, mums, dads, friends and children spent the entire game abusing someone or something the whole time. hmmm.

As I was waiting for him after the game I felt compelled to sum up the days experiences in a poem.

All come together for one day a week

Everyone yelling and calling out cheat

Cheer on our player who fakes for a free

The other team yell, 'he never pays that for me!'

Drink our beer with biased glasses on

Our children learn to believe we are never wrong

Scream out frustration at every mistake

Why yell abuse? Hardly a difference it will make

After the game shake hands and retreat

Plot new abuse for the next time we meet

Have a beer and send the wife home

Stay with the boys for a good bitch and moan.

cheers

Wonderful Tassie

Ah two days in Tassie and I'm loving it! I landed in Launceston without any fog delays which is rare as they divert about four flights a week to Hobart as they can't land in Launy. The Virgin Blue staff on arrival said "Welcome to Launceston, welcome home or enjoy your day at work". Seems that they don't think anyone would come for a 'holiday' to Launceston.!!The sun is shining especially for me and I am yet to get frost bite. Jake lives on the top of one of the many hills around the city of Launceston and once the fog clears in the morning it is a great sight!
Yesterday we went on a 380km 'day trip' to Hobart to check it out. Our planned departure time of 7.30am whizzed past and we hit the road at 11am. The Hobart weather turned itself on and we drove up an almost cloud free Mt Wellington (later found out max temp up the top was one degrees) and it was absolutely awesome. We had a race to the highest point on the mountain which Jake initiated when he was 10 meteres ahead of me, but I found a short cut and much to his horror beat him up there, just had to mention that!!!! We're not competitive at all.....
Jake was busting to check out the Bellreieve oval and we found it... eventually, (surely the dirt track along the river is the main thouroughfare to the ground......). Must say after seeing it close up that it does look a lot better on tele. The gates were open so we snuck onto the ground to have a look around which was pretty nifty.
That night we hit the oldest casino in Australia at Crest point. Good old Tassie Club keno shouted us dinner and some Boags with a $45 win with the lucky numbers of 10, 23 and 44.
Our day trip did technically end at 1am when we arrived home. Must actually wake up when alarm goes next time.
Another Sunny Tassie day ahead.
cheers:)
Ingrid.

Why am I going to Tassie?

Weather forecast in Tassie.
Thursday - Morning rain easing. Min 05 Max 13
Friday - A shower or two. Min 3 Max 12
Saturday - Fog and frost then fine. Min 00 Max 12
MINIMUM - zero on Saturday.
The weather web page also has a UV index for Launceston, needless to say it was on a 1 out of 10. Might leave the sunnies at home, damn.

Must remind Jake to transfer his studies interstate (preferably to Perth or Brisbane) so I can visit him in a warmer climate next time.
Ok, aside from the weather I am really looking forward to going to Tassie for the weekend!!!
cheers,
Ingrid:)

Time for some more photos!!

Happy Families

I had a very unique experience this afternoon on this lovely public holiday. My parents made a passing comment today that the songs I write all so down and depressing, and said I should write a “happy song”. To that I replied I only really write when I’m down or upset so that’s what comes out!

Anyway today with the co-writing assistance of my mother I wrote a ‘happy song’. Mum really surprised me today with her hidden talent for lyric writing and together we came up with a family based song, more specifically about my grandparents life. It could be even worthy of playing at the next family gathering!! I have big plans for this song as I am taking it to play to my grandma next week and if she can change just one of the lines that will mean we will have a (Lukas, Noack and Noack jnr) three generation song writing credit. I wonder if that has ever been done before????????

Cheers

Happy Birthday Queen!!

Cheers to never becoming a Republic and keeping this lovely long weekend holiday forever. Hope everyone (except unfortunate public holidayless uni students) had a great break!

She's “in London Still, la la la, London Still”

A very dear friend of mine Bootsi is currently experiencing the cricketing dream by living and playing in England for three months. She has a 'tour diary', (insert nerd alert groan here) which is extremely entertaining, although a true understanding of Kath and Kim is required to get most of her humour.

http://travelsite.mytripjournal.com/reanna

She made a comment in her diary about loving the experience in the UK and enjoying "knowing" lots of new people, but not necessarily the "getting to know" part. Splitting hairs in comparison...maybe.... but when I read that I completely understood.

I'd be great to skip the small talk with everyone we meet and go straight into the knowing them part. That's where all the fun is! Give me a good one on one D and M anyday instead of a group small talk situation. Maybe if I were better at small talk I'd love it….don't we all dislike what we struggle to do..

I'm pretty sure when Bootsi and I met each other in our mid teenage years our first words weren't. "Hey, hows the weather?", or "Hey, love what you've done with your hair Kimmy!". Although seeing as it was a cricket trip it was more likely to be , "Well played Victoria" after we thrashed Qld once again, go Vics.

Anyway.

Have fun Bootsi and I'm sure you'll catch the train down to Camdem to wander around’, so you can ‘buy’ me some funky records with that old mo-town sound’, (I actually don't think you are in London anymore but I just love that song by the Waifs to so I’ll pretend you are)

Cheers,

Ingrid:)

Everyones Different.

I have quite a big interest in personality types and differences between people. Apparently we all fit into one of 16 different personality types. No wonder there are so many personality clashes out there!!

This is no pop test. This is a short blog so I won't go into it here but it's well worth doing. Remember none of these personality types is better than any other, they are all just 'different'.

I am an INFP. As I read descriptions of an INFP I finally felt not alone in a lot of the things I think about and find hard in life. After all INFP make up only 1% of the population!!!! INFPs are the highly sensitive and probably at times aloof people daydreaming in their own little world. That means on the train as I go to work in the morning there is probably only one other who understands what it's like to be me!

For those who want to understand me better here is the link to my personality characteristics: This link gives and overview of what I'm apparently all about.

INFP

This link highlights the struggles

INFP Growth Areas

This is the link to do the test. You might discover something!

Myers- Briggs Personality Test!!

Once you do the test the link http://www.personalitypage.com/ gives an overview of all the types. It's really great reading.

A part of myself has been voiced to the world

Here I am, slighty tipsy, after the debut performance of one of my songs. Songwriting is something I've enjoyed in the non-threatenting environment of my bedroom for about 9 years now. Tonight was the first time a 100% ingi noack song had been performed in public. Thanks to Megan for putting her own finishing melodic touches to it to make it sound a treat. I am vocally challenged, but one day do hope to give a solo performance to add my own emotion to what I write. One day. The open Mic nights have been a great experience for Megan and I to work on our performance and stage presence in a very cruisy environment and met some very talented and entertaining people in the process. Must make special mention of our number one groupie (they know who they are) who haven't missed a performance yet. The complementary T-shirt is coming.
cheers
Ingrid:)

Hitting the Open Mic circuit again!!

Finally Megan and I are again playing at an open mic gig after a bit of a 'break' from the heavy touring schedule. Or should I say the typical "due to working on 'other projects' for the time being" line. Which for me has been actually earning some money instead of spending it. Speaking of which I'm wasting time at work currently by blogging, ah this is the life. Anyway it'll be great to get up on stage again and belt out some tunes. We're finally getting our performable original song count up and I'm pretty excited an orginal of mine will have it's public debut tonight. This particular song is one I wrote about three years ago so in a way because it's old I feel somewhat distant to the song now, which makes it easier to put out in the public domain! The people who have listened to so far all think it's about something different to the other, so I have four different meanings to the song so far!! whoohoo. That's what I love about songs, no interpretation is right or wrong as it's up to the individual to take what they want!!
Anyway I am nervous thinking about tonight, as always, but I'll have Megan hoping I don't start playing in the wrong key and my lovely guitar to hide behind to make me feel at home up there.
cheers
Ingrid:)

Bye Bye Brother

Tonight I saw Anthony for the last time before he heads off for a four month working trip to the UK. His send off was pretty novel as he decided to screen a selection of the short films he had written/directed or produced during the past few years. He has this knack of surprising his whole family on what he is capable of, and this time was no exception. He is a very talented boy. The night was great and he must have enjoyed seeing his hard work for everyone to see up on the big screen. I was taken aback when the credits rolled for one of the films and I saw my name up there…. What the?? Apparently ages ago I lent him a pair of cricket pads to use for a shoot, ah well I’ll take the glory.
Anthony is more known for all the artistic and technical work behind the scenes but he sometimes steps in front of the camera when needed to act as an extra. He does have some hidden talent in that area I must say, although seeing his name in the actors credit “Anthony Noack – Cricketer #1” was just wrong as I thought I had that title sewn up in the family years ago. The last time I remember him being slightly interested in cricket was years ago when he fancied himself as a leg spinner in the back yard and bowled to me a couple of times. I think this is where I got my batting patience from (and learnt the necessity of wearing a helmet) as the session usually went ‘beam ball, beam ball, beam ball, grubber, good length ball three meters outside the off stump and on the way to mums car, and finally a decent ball I could get bat on.’ I was stoked that the night went well for him and am looking forward to what he has to show next time when he gets back to Australia.

I shed a few tears on the way home as a proud sister should.

Cheers,

Ingrid

“Nerd Alert”

Ok so I admit it. I have many computer nerd features. My computer and I have had a love/hate relationship since I first bought my own desk top in mid 2002. It was love at first sight when I realised I could record my very own original music onto the computer and burn them onto cd. I felt more fondly of it when I realised with some effects added to the sound it could cause the illusion that I can sing. That initial fondness turned to hate when without warning my system crashed last year and I lost two years worth of music, uni work and other odds and ends. Since its hissy fit it refused to play any sounds or anything more demanding than checking email.

The reason I mentioned all this is, thanks to my technologically inclined savvy brother, my computer today had a long overdue overhaul and now runs superbly. I think I am growing to love it again and in time trust it again. It’s great to have sound back as well and even the annoying windows opening theme has become a favourite tune.

I thought this update to my computer was definitely ‘blog worthy news’.

Cheers,

Ingrid

Ok a post with a "thought"

Initially the whole blog concept was a bit too daunting for me. I do enjoy reading other peoples thoughts, opinons, ideas etc but am quite hesitant to post any of my own. When I do give my opinion it's usually to a small number of people and always on the provisor that none of it gets repeated. The notion of whatever I post here being read by anyone who stumbles across the site through pure chance, or word of mouth is quite intimidating. But I thought it was worth giving it a go. Will I be inhibited in what I post here? Most definately. Is there any time when I am not inhibited? Probabably not. But blogs (apparently) aren't about getting everything out. Just to vent a few things and see who else thinks along the same lines.
cheers,
Ingrid.

"Sidekicks (name in progress) Debut performance in my backyard, February 2005

Debut perfomance Posted by Hello

Our first demo recording session, Feb, 2005. Posted by Hello

Boring first posting

After much procrastination and avoidance I now have my own Blog. I finally succumbed to ‘blogging pressure’ from Megan (aka other half of my acoustic duo) and her daily taunts of ‘have you read my blog?!’. I always oblige and read about her daily musings and find I have nothing else to say to her because all my questions have been answered in her blog! The eventual goal is for us to never need to talk to each other again and just simply log on. I’m sure she’ll take that idea in good humour as always.

cheers,
Ingrid:)
